NYS Student Teaching

4th-grade read-aloud of an all-time student favorite, Milk Goes to School.

After learning about the sun, earth, and moon, 1st-grade students made their own constellations and told stories to go along with them.

5th-grade students engaged in a hands-on lab to determine how a star's apparent brightness and distance from Earth are related.

4th-grade students engaged in a summarizing activity in which they learned how to summarize using the “somebody wanted but so then” strategy.

Differentiated activity to assess K/1/2 students' knowledge of the four types of precipitation.

After reading about the Iroquois and Algonquins, 4th-grade students made their own Native American wigwams and longhouses and shared how they differ from each other.

As an engaging math review, 4th-grade students completed math facts to ‘figure out Miss Lov'. They then created their own ‘figure me out’ activities in which they wrote math facts and collaborated to learn a little more about each other.

After learning about the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade traditions, 1st-grade students created their own Macy's parade balloons. They were then promoted to write about their balloons. Finally, they collaborated to complete a scavenger hunt in which they found the balloon number that correlated to its description.

Classroom job system created for K/1/2 self-contained classroom to get students more involved in daily routines.

1st-grade students collaborated during morning work to go on a digraph scavenger hunt. They searched the room for books, materials, and posters to find words that included the diagraphs th, sh, ch, wh, and ck.

K/1/2 students learned all about Groundhog's Day and colored this image to explore how a groundhog might see its own shadow.

Hands-on activity to teach kindergarten students about the different types of severe weather.
